July 2

”… being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
(Philippians 1:6 NIV)

The office telephone rang and an enthusiastic voice said in Norwegian; ”Hi, do you remember me? My wife and I still love Jesus”. And remember I did! He was one of the many students who met Jesus during the years we worked at the school in Norway. Many years had past since the day he had bowed before Jesus, and we hadn’t had any contact all these many years. Sometimes we wondered about how it had gone for all those who had been saved while we served there, not least how it had gone for this young man. Was he still saved as a Christian or had he left the faith?
Now we received proof that God Himself takes responsibility for those who are His. It wasn’t we who had saved him. It wasn’t we who had begun a good work in him. It was Jesus. And when Jesus has begun His work in a person He also takes responsibility for completing it.

Prayer
Lord, thank You that it’s You - who works in us. Thank You that all I need to take responsibility for is to remain near You every day and follow the impulses You give me. Then you take care of the results.
