”As
you come to him, the living Stone—you also, like living stones, are being built
into a spiritual house.” (1 Peter 2:4-5)
I read the following in an old Christian
book from the year 1900:
A foreign ambassador asked the King of Sparta why he
didn’t have high walls ringing the city. ”Oh”, said the King, ”Come back
tomorrow and you’ll see why”. The next day an armed army of ten thousand
warriors stood in a circle surrounding the city. ”See there – each man is a
stone in this living wall!” said the king.
God
doesn’t erect any stone monuments. He doesn’t build walls of stone for
protection. He uses people in the spiritual building of His house that He’s
been overseeing since Jesus was laid as the first cornerstone.
Living
stones chiseled to suit
God
now places to join with purpose His holy Temple,
Reflecting
the glory of Christ the Rock
From
where God has selected every stone.
