”Let
us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall
by following their example of disobedience.” (Hebrew 4:1 NIV)
I heard a story told about a man who came
on a visit to a little town in the Rocky Mountains.
He approached an old man seated on a bench and asked him if he might tell him
what the town was best known for. The old man replied: ”Sure, it’s here that everything begins.”
The old gentleman
on the bench had understood something of real importance. And it is that
everything begins just where we find ourselves, and just from the ”present”,
the "now". If we see every setting as a possible spring-board to
action, and every instant as a starting point, nothing will be impossible for
us.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You that there exist no
hopeless situations, nor any hopeless people in Your sight. As long as we live
in the presence of grace we can begin anew, regardless of how dire our
situation may seem.
