August 31

”He also said, "This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head.” (Mark 4:26-28 NIV)

Spiritual work is a matter of teamwork. Some acts though, in the spiritual life, only God is able to accomplish. The supernatural can never be accomplished by a human. It’s God’s responsibility. But there are also certain acts that will never occur if we humans don’t do our part.
From today’s Bible verses we learn that the humans, ‘the field workers’, responsibility is to plant the seeds in the ground. That’s something God will never do. However, God takes on the difficult role, namely to look after transforming the seed to ripe fruit.
Our responsibility as Christians is to witness and tell of God’s Kingdom to people. If we do so God will see to it that our witness will bear fruit.

Prayer
Lord, help me sow the seed of witness about You – to witness about You to others. Thank You for then taking care of what I’ve said or done and transforming it to a mature faith within them.
