January 30

”You were bought with a price; do not become slaves of men.”
 (1 Corinthians 7:23)

Within real estate legislation in Sweden there is a concept called ”hidden flaws”. When a house is being sold, it is the duty of the seller to inform the buyer about any flaws that might exist in the house. On the other hand it is the duty of the buyer to investigate the house as thoroughly as possible. If the buyer, after the purchase, finds new flaws, which he ought to have discovered, he will be liable for these and he has to pay for the repairs. In case the error was impossible to discover by either the seller or by the buyer, this would be labeled a ”hidden flaw”. In those cases the seller will be responsible for the costs.
The Bible says that as Christian we were ‘bought’ and the price was paid. Before, we owned ourselves, but Jesus has bought us and now we belong to Him. The difference between purchasing a house and salvation in Jesus Christ is that the latter does not include any “hidden flaws”. Jesus wants us to confess to Him all our wrongdoings and faults, but then He buys us as we are. And, he takes the full responsibility to repair everything that is wrong, whether it is well known or hidden.

Prayer
Thank you Jesus that I may belong to You today. Thank You that you can heal and restore what is broken in me and that You will take all the costs on Yourself. Help me to give access to the Holy Spirit to everything that is Yours.
