February 5

”And he said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you go in peace.” (Luke 7:50)

We were taking a walk along the edge of the little forest lake. The air was calm and the surface of the pond was like a mirror. The atmosphere was perfectly peaceful and quiet.
My thoughts turned to Samuel Logan Brengle who wrote in one of his books what happened after he had experienced baptism in the Holy Spirit – or what he called the “second blessing”. Obviously the actual circumstances around him had not changed. But still he says that everything had changed with his experience and he says that the “low-water mark” of his life since that time had been sheer peace.
Can you imagine? Even in the deepest anxiety, you may experience sheer peace. This is something prepared only for those who firmly believe in an almighty God and his grace. Like David – who exclaims in the 23rd psalm: “The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want” – He didn’t lack anything! That is sheer peace. And we may also live in that peace if we only fix our eyes steadily on Jesus.

Prayer
Lord, I thank You that I can live safely today and have peace. Thank You that I may change focus from worries and concerns to Your unlimited power.
