December 1

“…and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For nothing will be impossible with God.” (Luke 1:36-37)

It is not unusual at conferences and Bible retreat weekends, that young couples want to have prayer concerning their infertility. In several instances the desire for children had chewed away at their entire lives and they have become deeply depressed at the fact that their desire was not fulfilled. Sometimes they have felt that others have started to talk about them, as ‘the couple who cannot conceive children’. Then we have presented their despair to the Lord, and we know that the Lord repeatedly has answered those prayers.
When we meet the children who are the result of such prayer, we feel a special gratitude to God, because we know so well about the hopelessness and the great sorrow which existed prior to the child’s arrival and what the Lord actually did. It becomes so clear that nothing is impossible for God. He is a specialist in creating life.
However, infertility can also relate to other areas of life. Our dreams may have failed and we may find ourselves in a seemingly hopeless situation. Then we also have to remind ourselves that nothing is impossible for God. He creates life and can turn an impossible situation into a new beginning, if we ask Him, and let Him have a free hand in our lives.

Prayer
Lord, I thank You today because You do what no man can. Help me today to tell You about my innermost longings and submit all my needs to You.
