February 15

”And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear...” (Philippians 1:14)

We are not always most cowardly when resistance is hard. Sometimes we are more cowardly with our faith when people speak well of us, than when everyone is against us. And there are some people who never dare do anything at all for God. They just want to sit in the grandstand and cheer or complain about others.
The Finnish poet Elmer Diktonius said: ”Tame birds have a longing, wild birds fly.” The ”tame” ones are those who never dare to go into a fight at all. But there are also many ”wild” birds, who throw themselves into the unknown and give their lives totally for the Kingdom of God. Of course life is much more dangerous for the wild ones than for the tame ones. But tame birds will never experience the free flight, the feeling that they have been somewhere, the feeling that they achieved something, the feeling that they defiantly met the winds of resistance together with the Lord himself.

Prayer
Lord, make me courageous! Help me to dare to throw myself out into the free flight together with you. Help me to dare to tell someone about you today.
