”And
this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything
according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever
we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.” (1 John 5:14-15)
The Bible passage for today promises that God hears us if we pray according to his will, and that we will receive what we are praying for if we know that our prayer is in accordance with this will.
There
is no doubt that God wants everyone to be saved. Therefore we know for sure
that he will give us salvation when we ask for it.
That is
why she was saved that day, the woman who wanted to be saved, but expected
salvation to be a set of feelings. Suddenly though she understood that
salvation and feelings are two different things.
God has
never promised us a feeling of being saved - a feeling that we shall be saved
from the judgment of this world. He has promised that we shall be saved, with
or without feelings, if we do what he tells us to do in His word. ”…if you
confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God
raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9). Two things are
important: 1) that you confess with your mouth that you want Jesus to be the
ruler in your life and 2) that you really believe that Jesus is alive. If these
two things are in place “you will be saved”.
She was
saved that day – the woman who suddenly understood that salvation is a reality,
a reality, which we may step into the day we give Jesus the right to decide in
our lives and really believe that He lives.
Prayer
Thank you Lord for all those people who will have their eyes opened to Your salvation today. Thank You for the assurance that no one, who comes to You with a frank and honest mind, will be turned away. And as we pray according to Your will, we know that we already have what we asked for in our prayer.
