July 15

”So they asked him, "Who is this fellow who told you to pick it (the bed) up and walk?" The man who was healed had no idea who it was, for Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there…”
(John 5:12-13 NIV)

Today’s Bible verses are lifted from the story wherein Jesus heals a man who had been lame for 38 years. The perplexing thing here is that Jesus actually heals this man before he even knew Jesus. He didn’t know who had healed him. He only knew that after 38 years, he could walk again. Somewhat later Jesus located the man and made Himself known to him.
The man didn’t know Jesus, but Jesus knew the man! Sometimes we assume that we must ’qualify’ ourselves in order for Jesus to help us with our various needs. We believe we must learn to know God better before He will ’step in’, or that we must become more competent or caring in order that Jesus approve of us. But the wonderful fact is that Jesus knows every little being and can be of help whether we meet Him for the very first time or have had a lengthy relationship with Him.

Prayer
Thank You that I am known to You. Thank You for knowing my every need. Thank You for being able to fill my heart’s deepest longing.
