”Therefore
we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are
being renewed day by day.” (2 Corinthians 4:16 NIV)
Revelations is the Bible’s last book, and
someone has described the book as ‘history,
written in advance’. There one will find a description of the end times,
but also how the status quo stands just now.
In Revelations
the story of Jesus is told. He sits on the throne in heaven and all matter of
creatures fall before and pray to Him. I like the image of Jesus on the throne
and the thought that we humans can join in with that prayer fellowship and the
songs of praise already taking place in heaven.
In the conclusion
of Revelations we read the words that have provided hope to countless thousands
of people: "He who was seated on the throne said, I am making everything
new!" (Rev 21:5). Those words are still valid today. Jesus Who sits on the
throne and has all power says to you who senses that your exterior surface is
breaking apart – See I make all things new! You are worn out, indifferent or
perhaps only blasé, but don’t give up. If you invite Jesus into your situation,
He’ll renew your inner being.
Prayer
Help me today not to give up, but to turn to
Jesus, with that which weighs me down. Thank You for giving me new hope and new
strength and for wanting to renew my life yet once more.
