“Fight
the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were
called when you made your good confession in the presence of many
witnesses." (1
Timothy 6:12)
"It
is in the hills where training leads to fitness" - said the Bible teacher,
and all who had come hoping to hear words of comfort that God would deliver us
from trials were a little disappointed. Could it be that the adversity we had
to meet was a step in God's training program, to make us stronger Christians?
A struggle always
includes resistance. Sometimes we think life comes full force against us, and
everything we face is against us and we fight hard. The uphill climb seems
endless and impossibly steep.
But when we face
long ascents, we need not take the whole hill in one single stretch. We take
one step at a time. The only thing we really need to look for is a place where
we can put our foot down the next time. We’ll follow this plan for a while, and
if we stick to it, we will sooner or later reach the top of hill.
Prayer
Jesus, life feels impossible at times, but
you help us carry on. You want to show us step by step where to put the foot
down the next time. Thank you for never giving us challenges more difficult
than what we can handle.
