"Therefore,
since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that
none of you be found to have fallen short of it." (Hebrews 4:1 NIV)
As long as we live in the age of grace, we
are assured of God's promise that we can enter into His rest. It is never too
late! It is never too late to be saved. It is never too late to have your life
turned around. It is never too late to follow God's will for my life.
Recently we have
heard about several famous people who late in life received a new life in Jesus
Christ. Ingela Agardh, the well-known television commentator and news reporter
is just one of those persons. In a newspaper interview she said: ‘The biggest news for me is that I met Jesus
Christ.’ It is also the title she gave her autobiography.
Ingela Agardh was
only slightly older than 50 years when she met God. It says about Abraham that
the Lord appeared to him when he was 99 years old (1 Gen. 17:1). Few of us have
reached this advanced age, but in God's eyes, it is never too late. God had
promised Abraham that Sarah would bear a son. When Sarah heard that she smiled
and thought that it was impossible. But God spoke to Abraham and rebuked him
and said: ‘Is anything too hard for the Lord?’ (Genesis 18:14). In God's timetable, it is never too late!
Prayer
Thanks for the assurance that it is not too
late to come to You and be saved. Regardless of how my life looked up until
this day, I come to You, entrust myself to You and receive the new life You
offer.
