April 12

”If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
(Romans 10:9 NIV)

He stared down at the Bible which we held in front of him. He had heard the Bible verses that we read to him. He truly wanted to be a child of God. He wanted to be saved. Now he saw the Bible verse with his own eyes. And then he heard our questions: ”Do you want to acknowledge Jesus as Lord of your life? That means that it is He who will decide.” He answered, after taking a moment to think: ”Yes”. We continued: ”Do you believe that God raised Jesus from the dead, that is, that Jesus lives here and now?” He answered calmly: ”Yes, I believe that”. Our last question echoed in the room: ”What does that make you?”, and a smile spread slowly across his face as he realized that it was too late to change his mind. ”Right, that means I’m saved”, he said, as he began to pray and thank God for salvation. A simple trust in what is written in God’s word is often the path to a living awareness of spiritual truths.

Prayer
Jesus, you want me to be Your child. You want me to freely turn to You in order to receive new life in You. Thank You for never turning away those who come to You with an open heart.
