May 12

”Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:6-7 NIV)

The Bible tells us to bow down. It’s God who raises up. We are to cast all burdens on Him. He will ensure that all our needs are fulfilled. The Bible doesn’t only say we are to bow, but rather, bow humbly. One can, of course, bow either forcibly or of free will, but it’s the free will’s obedience that God wants to witness. One can not, concurrently, maintain hardness against the one to whom one bows. ”God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” (1 Pet. 5:5 NIV)

Prayer
Help me today to bow to your will, not by force, but simply by trusting in your comfort and care, just for me, just today.
