”Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17)

If people are to come to faith they must first hear God’s Word. In order for them to hear God’s Word it requires someone to open it up to them. Jesus often likens the opening up of the Word with the sower who sows in the ground. ”To sow is to begin cultivating something whilst still a seed”. So it’s written in a book of sayings on the internet. It also reads that the verb ’cultivate’ includes that one prepares the ground, fertilize, water and in other ways nurture growth in the plant.
God wants us to be efficient in sowing seeds, that is to say we ought to begin nurturing something in other people’s lives. That which He wants us to sow is God’s Word. ’The seed is the Word’ it is written in Luke 11: 8. Just as in nature with the earth, the person must be prepared to receive God’s Word. Someone must then sow God’s Word in the person and then it must be nurtured and watered in order that a growth results from the little seed. This is man’s assignment, to prepare the earth to sow, nurture and water. However, it is God Himself who brings about growth. ”I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow” Paul says in 1 Corinthians 3: 6.
When we proclaim, that is, tell others about Jesus, we sow seeds that God can allow to grow into a strong faith in others.

Prayer
Help me today to tell someone about Jesus. And remind me that this is my assignment. And then, Lord, You will watch over his or her growth in faith.
