"Morning by morning he awakens; he awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught” (Isaiah 50:4)

I once heard someone say: “The most courageous moment in a person’s life is when she wakes up in the morning and steps into a new day.” Then I thought of the words in a song by Allan Törnberg: “God is faithful; write those words over each newborn day”.

Each newborn day! The stanza talks about the day as if it had a life cycle. The word newborn speaks about purity and about something that is real and vulnerable. Early in the morning nobody has yet had time to soil the day. The choice to use the day either to something good or something evil is still there. How will it be? We know that we so easily can destroy it if we are not on our guard. It is certainly true that it takes courage the meet a new day.

With Törnberg however, we may place a headline over the ‘chapter that is this day’. And the headline reads: “God is faithful”. If we enter each new day under this headline, we need never fear. We can meet anything that comes our way with confidence because he who created and placed it there is faithful.

Prayer
Lord, thank You that You have”foreseen” this day and that I can enter it with confidence, trusting the fact that Your faithfulness is the only protection I need.
