"Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”
(Matt
7:9-11 NIV)
Today’s verses suggest the absurdity, that a parent would wish their child harm. Yet, we know that we live in a world that’s defective and it happens that children do not always receive the care they need. A child needs nourishment both for their physical and psychological well being. That a child needs physical nourishment is a given. However, research has revealed that a child isolated from human relationships in their formative years, doesn’t survive. Children have a need for inner nourishment.
God, my
Heavenly Father gives His children both physical and spiritual nourishment. He
provides for my physical need of food, warmth, clothes, sleeps etc.; all are
looked after. But He also insures that the soul receives that which it needs,
”for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.” (Psalm
107:9) My thoughts, my feelings, and my will receives nourishment through God’s
’good’ - the best of all.
Prayer
Thank You, Lord, for providing Your children with all that’s good. Thank You for wanting to give me physical and spiritual nourishment today.
