April 5

"I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way" (Mark 1:2 NIV)

When Jesus came to the earth, God sent a messenger in advance to prepare the way for Him. John prepared the people and shared that now was the time that the Messiah would come. It created a state of readiness in those who wanted to listen, receive and understand God’s action. In the Bible we see that God often sends messengers in advance prior to a major event. Joseph had to endure much suffering when he was sold by his brothers and exiled to a foreign land. It resulted with much agony, but in Psalm 105 we read that from God’s perspective there was a meaning behind his pain. It was to save His chosen people from starvation that God “sent … a man to them, Joseph who was sold as a slave”
The Bible assures us today that Jesus Himself goes before us and when He says to us, “Follow Me”, we can safely follow after because He has prepared a wonderful way for us.

Prayer
Thank You God that You call us to follow You. And thank You that it’s always safe and secure to follow You because all that You do is focused on us done with our best in mind.
