”While
Jesus was having dinner at Matthew's house, many tax collectors and
"sinners" came and ate with him and his disciples.”
(Matthew 9:10 NIV)
To invest is to risk a sum of money in a
project and believe that the money will yield a good return in the future. To
spend time with others can also be an investment.
In today’s Bible
verse we observe Jesus with a large group of people. Jesus and the disciples
alone numbered thirteen persons – and it’s written that there were many tax
collectors and ’sinners’ also. Jesus lived in the midst of people. He knew that
the time he spent in the company of others was an investment. People were impacted
on by His presence.
In the same
manner we invest our time in others, share a meal together, and in conversation
and fellowship with others. And if we, through such fellowship, also allow
Jesus to ’join’ in, our investment will result in that people will be affected
by His presence.
Prayer
Jesus, help me to administer my time well.
Help me to invest time in others, and in so doing, to include You in such
fellowship.
