”
Exalted to the right hand of God, he (Jesus) has received from the Father the
promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear" (Acts
2:33 NIV)
Jesus effects and completes that which emanates from the Father and on the
day of
Pentecost He poured the Holy Spirit over all the people. It is here that Jesus
first fulfills His reconciliatory work for all the people of the world. Now the
Spirit of Truth, the same spirit that lives in the Father and in the Son, would
reign. And since the day of Pentecost’s outpouring God’s Spirit can be found
near all persons, however, all must invite the Holy Spirit into their lives
individually.
When a
person welcomes the Holy Spirit into their life, ”God becomes active in the
believer.” It is a noticeable, a very real presence of Godly holiness in the
person. The Holy Spirit is the spirit of power. ”For God did not give us a
spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” (2
Tim 1:7). And the Holy Spirit is the spirit of purity. And He will convict the world of guilt in
regard to sin and righteousness and judgment”. (John 16:8 NIV)
Prayer
Jesus, fill me anew with your Holy Spirit today. Fill me with your power and love. Fill me with meekness and purity.
